Happy Spring!

It had snowed the day before the April 8 meeting, so we were all happy to have someplace to go so we could ignore it until it warmed up and the snow melted later in the day.

First- some announcements:
Kate Martin's brothers are holding an estate sale.

Sign-ups are now open to guild members for the classes with Laura A Cunningham in October.  Information on the classes can be found here. (non-members may sign up after the June 17 meeting)

Mary Ann Fritz, who did a presentation for us some years ago, is exhibiting her work at the upstairs gallery of the Arts Council of Wyoming County this month.  She uses interesting fibers and fabrics she hand dyes to make collages.

On to the show and tell!

Nancy Ellers, Shirley Lapp and Pat Gardner got together, using donated fabric to piece quilts for their church quilt ministry.

Elaine Lemley made this sweet little wall hanging on a three day quilting retreat

Lausei Taua has been keeping busy while her husband is deployed.  This will be a gift for him when he returns- next week.

Christ Kuehl Is very early for Thanksgiving with her pumpkin table topper

Chris also finished this gorgeous stained glass piece.

Mary Kozub fought her sewing machine and won to get this almost finished for her son.  Her tip to us: make sure you know where the knobs are supposed to be on your machine, in case they get bumped without your knowledge.
Mary used some extra strip sets to make the back big enough.

Connie Grimsley finished piecing this, from a Victoria Findley Wolfe class, at a second retreat at camp Asbury.

Maria Adams was very happy to say this "Four and Twenty Blackbirds" quilt is finished.

Maria also showed how she made a doll bed out of a storage container!

Ann Renica made some baby quilts for the critical care unit at Highland Hospital while on vacation in Florida

Linda Prouty will be giving this rainbow pinwheels quilt away before our next meeting.  It was quilted by Terry McGuire
 The back is also rainbows

Jean Butzer gave us a preview of one of the items to be sold to raise money for Wings Flights of Hope at the Clarence Log Cabin Quilters show April 21, 22 and 23.

Helen Batchellor shared some local history along with some vintage quilts to finish up the meeting.

Our next meeting will be on May 20.  Tina Somerset will speak about Color Palettes for Wow Quilts.  There is also a workshop on the same topic- it's not too late to sign up.
