On a fairly steamy August morning, the guild met to make plans for the show in October , share our projects and enjoy a talk from our own member artist, Kevin Hammon, about his process for paining birds on fabric. (Some lucky members even got to stay and paint a Downy woodpecker with Kevin!)
And, of course, there was show and tell!
Stephanie Mott has completed the second appliqué block from the class with Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill. She's planning o making a four block quilt!
Kathi Everett took a class with Kevin recently at the Stitchery
Carrie Caccamise shared this quilt of valor she recently finished.
Carrie also shared this beauty- I missed the name but she said it's a free pattern online. It will be a donation for Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
Kevin shared a lot of great information into how he chooses which bird, how the fabric inspires him and even his favorite brushes! Below is a work in progress- inspired by the fabric- an albatross.
And here are some pictures from the class- and the results!!

Please come to our show in October!!
At the next meeting, we'll be learning all about thread! Meeting September 19, 9:30 am at the First Presbyterian church, 300 East Main St. Guests welcome!
