January Meeting

In spite of an illness forcing the program scheduled for January to be postponed, we had a very fun and idea filled meeting!!   Part of this was the presentation of the challenge quilts!  They are not pictured here, as I will get much better pictures once they are hanging in the library.  So stop back after Feb 2!
  January Show and Tell

Terry McGuire has finished her "Grand Illusion" top- a  yesteryear quilt from Bonnie Hunter at quiltville.com

Beth Anderson made another "creative girl" inspired quilt as a companion to the one she gave her boyfriend.

Beth made this portrait style quilt for her boyfriend's parents

Nancy Schrader made this tree skirt for herself

This one is a gift for a niece who is getting married.

Lori Sass made these chicken pillows

Lori used the extra blocks from this quilt, featuring bathing suits, on the back.

Donna Kaufman is already prepared for Valentine's day!

Pat Gardner made this beautiful Judy Neimeyer table runner

Cheryl Doody machine quilted this tree skirt with gold thread, from an AQS kit.

Donna Tomski made these skinny stitcheries, which Charlotte was able to display by using her "portable design surface"

Junamae Quternous made one of the poinsettias demonstrated by Marija Vujcic a couple of years ago.

Junamae has been using some of the bounty she won in the raffle basket to make cute table mats, with centers that open up!

Connie Grimsley is still finishing this gifts for her sister.  But it's ok, because her sister hasn't finished hers, wither.

Connie and Jenny worked together to make these tops- to be pillows for their mom.

Trudy Kutter didn't quite finish, but showed us her "tumbler" table runner.

 NATIONAL TEACHER UPDATE:

Sign ups for the classes with Paula Nadelstern will open at the February meeting.  Cost for each class will be $60 per person.  Classes will be held at the Tomaszewski Family Center at 4110 West Main St, Batavia (time TBD- Usually something like - 9-4 ).  Sign ups will be taken on a first come first served basis, with a limit of 20 in each class.  You need not pay at sign up, but  your spot will not be confirmed until payment in full is made.  After the May  meeting, we will begin to allow non guild members to sign up at a cost of $65 per person.

As a reminder, the classes are:
Thursday October 15: "Simple symmetry",  which features half square triangles pieced like a pinwheel block.

Friday, October 16: "Sixty-thirty", which is pieced similar to a traditional kaleidoscope block.

Both use symmetrical patterned fabric to create the intricate designs.  Here is a blog post about buying symmetrical fabric.
Paula will bring fabrics for sale during the class, and her fabrics are also available at several online quilt stores such as equilter.com, fabric.com, Hancocks of Paducah
