All About Thread

 

It's starting to feel like Autumn- time for cozy sweaters and quilts!!

It's also starting to feel like QUILT SHOW TIME!

I don't know how many of these items might be at the show, but show and tell is still the best part of every meeting!

  Nancy Schrader found these blocks  in the guild gift gallery at the Genesee Valley Quiltfest.  She added borders from her stash and quilted them into a sweet lap quilt she donated to the Silent Auction  (so you could own this if you come to the show!)

Nancy's favorite thing is finding good stuff on free tables at the various guild meetings and sewing circles she attends.  Above is the completely pieced project she found, and quilted.  

Below is a pillow made from some embroidered blue fabric she found, added some 4 patch blocks and finished to donate to the Silent Auction.  

Stephanie Mitt was proud to show us her first ever quilt!  Her sister is a big Dr Who fan, so Stephanie enlarged a picture of the "Tardis"!

Alex Hammon Took a class with Penny Marble to make these project travel pouches- above and below. 

Eileen Sorochty took an indigo dyeing class at Stitch Buffalo, then made this bag with the fabric.  

Diane Hooper made this quilt with a panel she surrounded with piecing to make it look like stained glass as a gift for her boyfriend. 

Dee Waldruff won a kit to make this quilt from a shop hop.  She needed a king sized quilt, so she added fabrics from her stash to make it large enough for her bed

Kevin Hammon recently taught a class for members to paint the Downy woodpecker.  On the left is Sandy Schuknecht's and on the right is Karen Roll's

Sandy Schuknecht made this super cute with on her embroidery machine.

We were also treated to a wonderful presentation and trunk show from Karen Miller, of Red Bird Quilt Company.  She shared her "Auriphilosophy" program with us- all about the different uses for different threads.  I apologize to all- especially Karen- that I don't have more pictures of her gorgeous work to share here.  If you're interested, you can visit her gallery!
