March show and tell/ community service day
We had the March meeting at the Genesee County
Nursing home, due to a paperwork snafu at the VA. It's a bright and airy space, which we all enjoyed for the day. The wall behind where people stood for show and tell is almost all windows, as you may notice.
Thanks to Chris Kuehl for making this arrangement!
Now, on to Show and Tell....
Mary Anne Watson finally finished her Christmas stocking.
(her recipient wasn't here at Christmas anyway)
Elaine picked this little embroidered piece up at the GVQC meeting and quilted it.
Cathy Judkins made this beautiful quilt!
Shirley Lapp was making this at retreat last month, and everyone wanted the pattern!
Martha won these fabrics from Kathryn Schmidt's blog.
Mary Ellen Ames made these jelly roll race quilts.
The one below is balls from all different sports. How fun!
We'll be doing a jelly roll race workshop for Community Service in August. Stay tuned.....
Ann Renica is at it again.....
One big block! Great idea, and easy to do.
More orange scraps
And what looks like sprinkles on a cake!
Chris Kuehl is getting a new grandbaby, but isn't sure of the gender. If it's a boy, there's this...
...And this for if it's a girl. Lucky baby either way!
Chris also made this sweet little purse and the little pouch to the right at retreat last month.
Cathy Schmeider, Irene Bow's daughter, quilted this wool applique beauty for a customer.
The picture does not do it justice.
Cheryl Doody made this "gossip" quilt. It was quilted with telephone cords and words by Debbie Kenny at Mt Pleasant
Anne Rupert was looking for the person who sold this fabric at the flea market. It was 2 fat quarters that went together perfectly. It will be used as a table mat.
Last but not least, the awards for the challenge were given out to the lucky winners, pictured.
I forgot to get the list from Tracy, so I'll get them posted soon.
After the meeting quite a few members stayed to work on community service quilts in various stages.
Thanks to everyone who gave a bit of their time, whether you stayed, turned in a quilt, took a kit or the shoebox quilt!!!
In April we will be back at the VA.
Our program will be with Sharon Bottle Souva, who will be teaching a workshop after. There is still room in the class, so call Tracy if you missed a chance to sign up.

RRRR...idea's
We have 15 ladies signed up to do a ROW by ROW ROUND ROBIN! Our own 12" x 48" row will be due by April's meeting, then we will start to pass them around the groups of 5, along with a 6" x Width of Fabric of a main fabric used in the first row, to be used by each participant in their row addition.
I am participating in an online RRRR right now and thought I'd give you an idea what is being done there.
