The crowd for the July meeting was smaller than usual. But those who attended were treated to a wonderful array of food. (WAY more than I could sample, for sure!) Good friends, show and tell, and good food. What more could you ask for?
Nancy Ellers won this quilt top from her quilting board. People offer things they just don't like (or don't want to finish). So Nancy is planning to finish this gorgeous quilt then donate it.
One of the projects of the month was these little tissue holders. I didn't get a picture of the Canadian Maple leaf she made, similar to our leaf favors for the quilt show.
Arlene Kelly brought this sweet little sailboat quilt top to show us since it will be given to the lucky baby before the next meeting.
Elaine Ross made this piece after viewing the Matisse exhibit at the memorial Art Gallery with RAFA members. They enjoyed the simple way he does faces and challenged each other to create a 2 color quilt in a similar style. Elaine insists this is not a self portrait.
Elaine was inspired to create this quilt by a mossy tree stump in Rainbow Springs, FL. As some of us know, when you stop to take pictures of things like this , people look at you strangely.
Up close you can see the dimensional effect on the fungus bits.
Mary Kozub finished the quilting on her Bargello piece from the class we had with Marija Vujcic last year. (or was it the year before?) Her comment was "Yellow, yellow- it's Bargello!"
Chris Kuehl made this Judy Neimeyer runner in a class at Mt Pleasant, and is looking for help quilting it on her mid-arm machine.
Ann Renica made this as a donation to the VA's end of life care unit.
Martha brought in her portrait quilt, even though it is also one of her UFO challenge pieces for next month's meeting.
