October Show and Tell

I didn't forget the show and tell, but the post was already pretty long, so I decided to do two.
I apologize to those people not identified with their project. I just forgot to write things down.
Tracy Jachimowicz shows off her organizer basket.
Tracy's project from Jean Butzer's machine applique class.
Tracy's wool felt project from a class earlier this year.

Nancy Ellers' project from Jean Butzer's class.

Nancy did some figuring and made this mat without a pattern!

Nancy said this isn't new, but it's one of her favorites

Melanie Watson's hexie table mat.
Melanie used techniques from Jean's class to finish her lighthouse from another class.

Melanie made some small zipper bags.
Melanie didn't trim her block from the "sixty thirty" class so she can decide how to use it.
Mary Anne Watson has been making lots and lots of yo-yos for her new bed cover.

I'm so sorry I can't credit the maker(s) of these beautiful quilts- above and below.

Mary Kozub needle felted the cutest little pumpkin!
Mary painted her daughter-in-law's face at the ArtCGirlz meeting
Mary's blocks from the "Simple Symmetry" class with Paula Nadelstern

This is Maria Adams' project from Jean's class.

Ann Renica was playing with solid scraps, and getting advice from her husband on placement of the smallest squares.

Donna Tomski found the pattern for this free online

Pat Gardner's birds in the window

Pat presented hers and another's project from Jean's class.  Sorry both for forgetting who, and for how blurry the picture is. (You all move very fast!)

Connie Grimsley finally got her wool felt project framed.

Connie is also going to wait to trim her sixty thirty block

A few more of the "sixty thirty" blocks from Paula's class.

Paula Nadelstern came for a visit!

A "Simple Symmetry" project

The Museum Quilt Guild was happy to have Paula Nadelstern come spend a few days with us last week.
Many lucky members were able to enjoy one, or both, of two workshops during this time.

First was "Simple Symmetry" on Thursday.

Paula brought a wonderful assortment of her fabrics for participants to choose from, and was happy to help us decide which to use.

Learning to make templates, and to understand "Bilateral symmetry".
We also got sneak previews of the next fabric line (Debuting at Market this week!) and the book Paula is working on.  But we were sworn to secrecy!

Picking a spot on the fabric to play with.

And later in the day, deciding how to assemble the blocks.

Each of us got a lot of personal attention and assistance

No two are the same, even using the same fabrics!
If you run short of fabric, you try alternate layouts.

On Friday, the class was called "Sixty-thirty", referring to the angles used.

Paula explains her "seamless" technique

Some of the blocks from class. (Sorry they won't straighten up and fly right!)

At the regular meeting on Saturday, we enjoyed Paula's Lecture on "Symmetry and Surprise".

And got to get up and close to a few of Paula's spectacular quilts!

This was the first "Sixty thirty" quilt she made.

It's always exciting to interact with the national teachers.  They have all been gracious and giving and they have great stories to share!

September Show and Tell

Nancy Ellers kicked things off with a disappearing nine patch donation quilt she made with donated fabric.  If you look close, you can see that some of the patches are pieced!

Nancy learned a new technique for making flying geese on this one.

Nancy wanted to make the bird pincushions in different sizes

Elaine used a picture she took at the Lamberton Conservatory to make this, with beads representing the raindrops.

Donna Sofokles shared how much she enjoyed her visit to the red and white quilt exhibit in New York.

Cathy Judkins made a mini professional tote.

Mary Ann Watson has kept busy while trying to quit smoking.  She made a couple of the breast cancer pillows,

finished her wool felt class project,
(sorry the picture is so blurry!)

and finished her lighthouse class project.

Chris Kuehl shared some of the Kaffe Fassett fabrics she got on her trip to Hershey, PA.

Connie showed some of the projects turned in for Community Service this month.

Liz Wagner made this for a wedding gift.

A visitor to the meeting (apologies for not getting your name!) brought this to share, since Barb Miller was speaking.  She made this in one of Barb's classes.

In October, the guild will be welcoming Paula Nadelstern.  If you are signed up for classes, you will get a reminder a week or so before the classes.
Due to Paula's flight schedule, the lecture on October 17 will begin early! (The business meeting may follow the lecture for this month only)
Non-members are welcome to attend the lecture, for a $5 fee.
