Reenergized!!!

 It was amazing to see so many people at the January meeting that we ran out of chairs!  (I am working on getting us more for next month!)  There's so much energy in the guild right now- a wonderful fellowship!!

We got to have TWO show and tell sessions at this meeting!

First was the "regular" show and tell...

Tracy Jachimowicz ( I think)  I can't recall if this was a community service quilt, or a gift. Either way, it's very pretty!

Tracy had a friend suggest red piping in the borders of this.  She tried, and decided red binding was enough!

This happy little quilt will hang in Tracy's mom's room to cheer things up.  

Connie Grimsley managed to finish this little tree skirt in the "nick" of time.  (Sort of)

 Connie then shared an assortment of Community Service quilts that had recently been turned in.

Many thanks to the ladies who hold quilts during show and tell.  I know they prefer not to have their faces in the pictures, but Diane kept peeking out from behind hers!

Trudy Kutter showed some old Thimbleberries quilts she had finally finished.

(Ooops- I just realized this is upside down! I'm not sure if I edited it to be this way or this is how it was held.)

 

Ann Renica has been making Twin sized quilts for "Sleep in Heavenly Peace"  Isn't this one gorgeous?

I missed what Ann was going to do with this lovely bright star.

Mary Beth Letson shared soe baby quilts she had recently finished.

Kathy Belluscio shared some quilts she has made to try and use up scraps.

The one on the left is made using dryer sheets.  (So it probably smells nice too!)

Elaine Lemley made this for a Buffalo Bills fan in her life.  

This was all made on Elaine's embroidery machine.  It's called a "tile" quilt- each piece is a small square she then assembled to complete the picture!

Elaine's sister made this super sweet wall quilt from a precut kit, then gave the pattern to Elaine.  She made this while supervising the embroidery machine for the cardinals piece above  

Angie Vallett made this for a friend who has Daschunds.

Then we had the reveal of the "I thought I'd Never" challenge entries. This is only a few of them- I couldn't get good pictures of them all, but will make a special post once the display is up at the library.  

                                       Nancy Ellers Never thought she'd move again! (she's done it 51 times!)

                       Terry McGuire never thought she'd own a Featherweight. (she has three!)

Jen Reardon never thought she'd enter a quilt in a show. (I'm glad she did)

                          Elaine Lemley never thought she'd use these silk fabrics in a quilt.

                               Mary Ellen Casey never thought she'd do thread painting

Elaine Ross was inspired by the Hallmark movies she never thought she'd get hooked on. 

                Gloria Crittenden never thought she'd use her stash of construction fabrics

Cynda Watroba never thought she'd make another quilt using her stash of denim fabrics. 

And then, as a bonus- we had a very informative and enjoyable presentation by Marica Birken- a local fiber artists.  

                            First Marcia shared her process for making landscape quilts in a slide show.

                                          And then we got a close up look at many of the quilts!

Enjoying the Holiday Together!!

Our December meeting is always a great time to enjoy the company of our fellow members as we share a meal together.  As we did last year, we enjoyed food prepared (mostly) for us!  ( A few members brought in extra goodies, which were most welcome and delicious!)  

We finally honored the winners from the "Viewer's Choice" voting at the quilt show in October.  Viewer’s Choice Awards are considered by many to be the finest award a quilter can win.  It is an honor and a clear indication of the preferences of the attendees.

Of course, show and tell is always a high point of the meeting.  Apologies for any blurry photos.  Sometimes I think it would be easier to photograph hummingbirds than show and tell.  :-)  I missed some of show and tell, so don't have any descriptions for some items either.  

Nancy Ellers made this little poppy wall hanging, as well as a couple of extra poppy blocks...

...  one of which made a nice addition to this donation quilt.

Chris Keuhl found a pattern for sweet angel ornaments and- naturally- had to make one with Bills fabric!

Using embroideries done by her mother, Chris is creating pillows for her family.

Elaine Ross got two of the quilts that had been traveling with the Cherrywood Challenge collections back and brought them to share.  First is from the Bob Ross challenge.

                                                     Second is from the Prince challenge.

Sue Chiddy - I have forgotten the story for this one.  ( I really need a scribe)

Elaine Lemley used her embroidery machine to put these designs on a tree skirt just the right size for her little tree.

Liz Scott made this as a gift for a family member who loves cats.

Ann Renica made these tops for Community Service, intended for "Sleep in Heavenly Peace"

Over 50 items (possibly closer to 70) were donated for the Holiday silent auction.  Members enjoyed bidding against each other to add to their stash or do some gift shopping.  Money raised benefits the guild.
