Quilt Show Information

The quilt show is only 7 weeks away! You have until Sept 4th to register your quilts. Forms are available in the July newsletter, or you may use the super easy online form. Remember you can always show less than you register, but you may NOT show quilts that are not registered!

If you haven't signed up for classes with George Siciliano, now is the time to do so! Information on the classes can be found here. Bring a friend! Contact Elaine Ross: elainejr@rochester.rr.com to sign up.
Parking is limited at St Anthony's so we are working on a shuttle service to allow you to park at the Presbyterian church. If you can help with that, please contact Cathy Judkins.
If you are unfamiliar with the area, St Anthony's is at 114 Liberty St. Liberty Street turns off of Main St at the corner where the Pennysaver has moved. The Presbyterian church and the Key Bank are also located at this intersection. Follow Liberty across Ellicott. St Anthony's is the second building on the right. From the West, bear right off of Main St onto Ellicott ( Route 63). Turn right onto Liberty Street at the third light. St Anthony's is the second building on the right.
There are still openings for all shifts at the show, especially hostesses. Remember, working a shift means you get in to the show for free! Being a hostess allows you to spend a lot of time looking at the quilts, and the vendor stalls, plus you get to chat with fellow quilters from all around the area!
If you are going out shopping, contact Martha for some fliers or bookmarks to help promote the show!

Art quilters update

As you may know, a few of us have been getting together to explore contemporary quilting the last couple of years. We have finally decided to call ourselves the "Art C Girlz".

We are currently displaying a collection of our works at the GOArt! Satellite gallery at the Senior Center, 2 Bank Street, Batavia. The exhibit will be up until the end of August. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 am- 4 pm. Contact GOArt for more information at www.goart.org, or 585-343-9313.

We will also be fulfilling many a request and hold a flea market in July! We will set up tables upstairs.

Remember your raffle tickets! Sell, sell, sell. A lot of work has gone into the making of it. Help to make this year's quilt raffle a success!

This past Saturday a group gathered at Tracy J's (thanks Tracy & Dan) business' cafeteria to participate in a Fabric Painting Workshop given by Barb Murak. Many painting techniques were covered and much time dedicated to play. Barb was a very gracious and knowledgeable teacher. I know all of us were inspired and motivated to make beautiful fabric!

Linda Hunter was our speaker this month. We all learned alot about quilt show judging. Linda has been a judge and been judged! Her lecture was very informative.

Next month Janet Root will be back to go over the many "basics" of quilting. Many of you have expressed interest in learning about squaring up, 1/4" seam, binding etc. Janet is known for her meticulous attention to these details.

July is our annual picnic (potluck style). We will also set up tables upstairs for a summertime flea market. It's a lot easier to transport all your cast-offs in nice weather, so bring your priced items and make some $$!

August will bring Ina Randall. She is a member of Amherst Quilt guild. I actually hunted her down at their quilt show last month to book her for a trunk show! You will be inspired by her work.

After a rocky start to our April meeting we managed to quickly regroup and enjoyed a trunk show from Janet Root!

Our Liberated Quilt workshop after was wonderful. I will post pics of our time with Janet in a few days.

We welcome Linda Hunter in May. She will be telling us the things that quilt show judges look for.

In June Janet Root will be returning to take us through all the basics of quilting. Many people expressed interest in learning/reviewing just that, so plan on learning something new or refreshing our busy minds with tips that will help make quilting enjoyable!

Remember July we will have our annual picnic and we are adding a flea market. We know January weather is not conducive to transporting our treasures! Start setting things aside now, price them and you'll be ahead of the game!
