There wasn't a lot of show and Tell this month.  I imagine it is a post show hangover, and soon there will be long lines of quilters showing all of their finished objects again!  (Members- not to scare anyone- but here's a reminder that the annual challenge entries are due at the January meeting.)

Nancy Ellers started us off with a sweet Sunbonnet Sue quilt.

Nancy also reminded us that the "10 minute table runners" take just a bit longer than 10 minutes.
Another project from quiltingboard.com
Nancy thought this mug carrier/ mug rug combination was cute, but didn't like the way the button carried all the weight.
So she redesigned it a bit using fabrics showing her love of quilting.
Trudy Kutter shared a quilt made when the guild was young, in remembrance of one of the founding members, Ann Gouinlock, who recently passed away.

Mary Ellen Casey made this tree skirt using old ties as a gift for her daughter.

Mary Ellen recently acquired this family heirloom quilt, and is hoping to find out its age.

Elaine Ross made this quilt as a custom order for a friend.
Elaine also made this small piece featuring a door- and what Elaine calls "sloppy sewing".

Kathy Belluscio mad this with a collection produced years ago to raise money for breast cancer research.

After show and tell, sharing company and snacks, we enjoyed demos by our fellow guild members showing a nice variety of techniques!

Lori showed us how to make improvised landscapes using what she has learned in classes with Margaret Reek, Wendy Butler Berns and Karen Eckmeier.  Lori says she uses mostly Karen's "Accidental Landscapes" method.

Here Lori shows how she lays out the freely cut fabric....

..to make a lovely scene with mountains in the background

Melanie Watson showed us how to cut and piece circles, a technique she has learned from a "craftsy" class with Ann Peterson. The templates she showed are available at: http://backporchdesign.danemcoweb.com/

Melanie showing how to pin circle blocks.

Cutting a circle using a regular ruler

Chris Kuehl showed us how to do couching and bobbin work.  She has learned these from books by Libby Lehman, Michele Scott, and Carol Ann Waugh

Couching a decorative thread intuitively.

Once you finish the couching you have a beautiful canvas to play with!

Shirley Lapp showed some of what she has learned from making projects using the "Three Dudes" block. Many of us have admired her quilts at retreat and show and tell.  Now we know the secret!
Shirley brought a nice assortment of her finished projects to inspire!

Here she is showing a variation

So easy but no one has to know!
Next month is the annual holiday party.  Bring a dish to pass and a place setting and enjoy good friends and great food!
