Spring speaker series finale and May show and tell

 Many thanks to Connie and Jennifer Grimsley for arranging the spring speaker series!  The final speaker was Patricia Belyea, of Okan Quilts.

Patricia was allowed to have a tour of where they make Yukata cottons- made in lengths for Kimono.  She sells these in her online shop.  

After dyeing and rinsing, the lengths of fabric are hung outside to dry!

SHOW AND TELL

Connie Grimsley  is  making quilts for her students.  May of them received pillows when Connie was teaching first grade instead of fourth. 

 

Connie made this sweet little  table topper for her classroom aid, and one for herself. 

Mary Ellen made this for her granddaughter's graduation.  Her granddaughter picked out the colors. Mary Ellen used many of the fat quarters in her stash for this.   The pattern is a variation of work in the book "Adventures in Circles" by Leigh McDonald.

Jennifer Grimsley put the binding on this immediately after getting it back from the long arm quilter!

Jenny made these table toppers inspired by the ones Connie made, but she remembered the quilting a little differently from the way Connie had done it.  

Mary Ellen Ames got this pattern from AQS, and the fabrics from Material Rewards. She worked on it at several retreats.  Patty at Chestnut Bay did the quilting.  

Ann Renica would like to know who pieced the Community Service  quilt she finished! 

Nancy Schrader worked on this quilt with her niece at our last community service day.  

The rest of these were in the Community Service stash and Jennifer Grimsley quilted most of them. 

Nancy Ellers finished piecing the memory quilt she was working on last month using the hats.  

The mother didn't want a quilt, so Nancy made her a small "pocket" for her instead.  

 

I'm sorry for how blurry these are, but wanted to include Melanie's project!  This is a gift for a friend's daughter who is getting married.  She wanted a winter theme. The pattern is from Patchwork Garden's Saturday Smile, called a three yard quilt.

Alex shared the first panel in a quilt Kevin is making.  He is painting different poses of Blue Jays on fabric using photos he has taken.  It's going to be amazing, isn't it?

Please bring ALL of your show and tell, even if you've shared it on a Zoom-  to the June meeting- EXCEPT your Red and white Challenge entries.  It's going to be an amazing meeting.  I cannot wait!!
