Community Service Day

 Connie and Jenny sent a big thank you to everyone who stayed for our Community Service Day. We had 19 members stay, with another 9 members who either took a project home or dropped off something they had worked on.  Members worked on:  binding quilts, piecing quilt tops, cutting quilt kits, heart pillows, pillow cases and Salvation Army gift bags.  We really appreciate our members’ contributions to Community Service. 

It's a nice afternoon spent working together and having some good "getting to know you" time!     (Show and Tell follows below)

 

Jenny and Connie wandered the room to be sure everyone had what they needed.  Many worked in groups, sharing the work. 

 There's always hand work to be done!

 

 

I apologize if I label any of these incorrectly.  Relying on my memory to do this is becoming increasingly difficult.  Then, they got jumbled up when I uploaded, which really didn't help!  Please let me know of corrections needed.

Elaine Lemly made some quilts to donate using fabrics she bought at the flea market in January. (above and below)

 

 

Mary Kozub crocheted a sweet little heart string using DMC embroidery floss.

Donna Tomski finished paper piecing this after former members Barb Brady and Trudy Kutter gave up on it.  Mary Lowe quilted it for Donna. 

 

Connie and Jenny Grimsley bought the fabrics for this when visiting their aunt in Wisconsin- while she was with them!  They are hoping their aunt might actually use this quilt if they wash it before they give it to her!

Nancy Schrader made this "I Spy" quilt for her grandson to use when he visits her house. 

 

 Below are the results from a fabric dyeing and painting class Nancy took.  (It's her fault we got late snow, you guys.  :-)

Nancy's aunt recently passed away.  She liked to make multiples f everything, so Nancy was happy to choose some sweet seasonal hangings from the projects left behind.

 

Mary Lowe and Kathi Everett used the extra "flowers" from the raffle quilt to make a second place raffle quilt!

Gloria Crittenden made this super sweet wall hanging.

 

 

Mary Ellen Ames finished this mystery quilt- offered many years ago in the guild newsletter.

Pat Gardner used jelly roll strips for this pretty project.

Nancy Ellers knitted some baby blankets to donate

This was supposed to be backing fabric, but Nancy used it to make a cool top instead. 

Nancy always wanted to try making a "low volume" quilt.  She tried a stippling template for the quilting.

Nancy made these for Community service. I forget the name of the pattern she used.
