December, January and a challenge preview

 Your blog editor took a month off to enjoy and then recover from the holidays.  So we're catching up this month.  I'm wondering of this is worth the time anymore. So- December was our annual holiday party and auction.  So many fun gifts and toys on the auction table.  

Of course we are always at the meetings for show and tell, aren't we?  It's nice to know "someone" is getting something finished, am I right?


Nancy Ellers made another Wee Little Quilt for the consortium

Nancy Has been making custom hats for people to use as Christmas gifts.


Chris Kuehl Made this table runner (might have been a UFO?)- and she's decided she's keeping it!


Mary Beth Letson made this sweet quilt using "Lorax" fabric to be a donation to Strong Children's hospital


Bonnie Dedo made this cool cats quilt as a gift for her son


Nancy Schrader had a friend who lost everything in a fire.  She was allowed to use some tops from our Coomunity Service stash as gifts to the family.  nancy Quilted and finished them.  




Conie Grimsley made this t-shirt quilt for a friend's son as a graduation gift.  The t-shirts are from musicals.

Connie tried to use up both some yellow scraps and CS labels with 2023 on them by finishing these 2 quilts.

Jen Grimsley showed some of the samples from the beginner classes, which finished in December.  




Ann Renica made this butterfly quilt for her grandniece

Ann also made these for community service donations.  



Carolyn Stegman showed her pieces from the beginner classes.  



JANUARY
 On a very cold day (inside and out) it was nice to see so many at the meeting for the challenge reveal.

Vinnie Tjhung pieced this gorgeous top at a retreat.  Donated to community service


Nancy Mitchell attended Jackie Lynn's "boot camp II" classes and made this beautiful attic windows quilt.  

Nancy made this cute little storage box with 2" squares she grabbed off the free table.  


Tracy Jachimowicz made these winter themed banners to brighten  her mom's room.


Angie Valette finished her beginner classes projects.


Elaine Lemley made this scrappy quilt for community service

Connie Grimsley shared this community service quilt.  she didn't know who pieced it.  Mary Lowe quilted it.  

Connie is also trying to clean out some UFOs.  


Liz Scott got the kit for this sweet baby quilt from Keepsake Quilting.  It's a gift for a grand-nephew

Liz also finished this community Service quilt.  


Jennifer Grimsley shared this community service quilt pieced by Carol McNally, quilted by Cathy Schmeider. 


CHALLENGE PREVIEW
The "Music" theme was interpreted in different ways by our members, as always.  Better pictures of the quilts will be posted once the exhibit is up at the Richmond Library, beginning February 2.  

Kathi Everett started us off with her "Staying Alive"  stuffy- made with bits of other projects and an x-ray!

Nancy Schrader used her chickadee from last year's painting class and lyrics from a song .

Chris Kuehl was inspired by her mom's favorite birds, bluebirds, and their happy songs.


Elaine Ross created a "Rhapsody in Blue"

Mary Ellen Casey thought of her granddaughter, who is her sunshine!


Connie paper pieced (!!!) this scene from "the Sound of Music"


Jennifer's favorite song is "Build me up Buttercup"


Elaine Lemley says music comes in colors!
